Chris waited for Julie in the visitor’s room at Ferncliff. He looked down at the ring on his finger and smiled, proud that for once in his life the woman he was interested in returned his feelings. He would go so far as to deny any misgivings with Julie. She was as unpredictable as they come, but he shared a bond with her. He wasn’t even sure if there was a word that described the bond between them. They were of like minds for the most part, devious and not above a little manipulation to get what they wanted, mistrusted by the world and not exactly on everyone’s dinner guest list.
Come take my hand
You should know me
I've always been in your mind
You know that I'll be kind
I'll be guiding you
He bounced Julie’s ring in his palm and thought about their future together. He knew they had one and that was something he couldn’t say of any other woman he’d ever been involved with. He already had a plan in the works for regaining custody of Christina, and Chris was confident that Rachel would find a way to get Julie acquitted of the Kanelos murder.
Building your dream
Has to start now
There's no other road to take
You won't make a mistake
I'll be guiding you
Julie stepped inside the room and smiled as she saw her handsome husband standing at the window. He seemed to be lost in thought, pondering some happy moment. She walked over to him and placed her arms around him, “Penny for your thoughts?”
Chris smiled, “Only a penny? Do I look that cheap?”
Julie laughed, “Of course not. You looked like you were far out in space.”
“I was actually thinking of the future.”
“Really? What exactly were you thinking?”
“I was thinking that the one thing that I’ve really truly always wanted is right before me. Someone who can care about me despite my lack of a moral code,” He grinned, turning to look at her. He took her hand in his and slipped her wedding band on her finger, “You might not be able to wear it all the time, but I thought it might be nice to be able to wear it while we’re together.”
You have to believe we are magic
Nothin' can stand in our way
You have to believe we are magic
Don't let your aim ever stray
And if all your hopes survive
Your destiny will arrive
I'll bring all your dreams alive
For you
“Who ever would have imagined? Chris Ramsey, a closet romantic,” Julie said with a grin, trying to cover the happiness that sprang forth in her soul. She took his left hand in hers and looked at their overlapping wedding bands, “I can’t believe we’ve come so far, Chris.”
“And we’ve got so much farther to go Julie. We’re going to get you out of here and back with Christina. Whatever it takes.”
“You really think I can be acquitted? I mean, even if Greg Cooper does testify that he committed the murders, do you honestly think this town will let it go at that?”
“I think that with us as a team, Julie, we can accomplish anything.”
From where I stand
You are home free
The planets align so rare
There's promise in the air
And I'm guiding you
Julie sighed and looked at Chris with a soft smile, “So how’s my little girl? Is she back in Port Charles yet?”
“You’re not going to like it Julie. Lucy left Christina with her aunt. And that’s not all.”
“It gets worse?” Julie asked in a panic.
“Lucy and Scott broke up. We’re talking a knock-down drag-out sort of fight here. And Kevin was there to pick up the pieces of Lucy’s heart to put them back together.”
“You’re telling me that Lucy and Kevin are back together?” She frowned, “If Kevin Collins spends anytime with my daughter, he’ll have her as crazy as he is. I don’t want Christina anywhere near him, Chris. We’ve got to get me out of here.”
“I know. Rachel’s working on that actually. She’s supposed to be by here later today to go through the competency interrogation one more time. She’s nothing if not thorough.”
“So I’ve noticed,” Julie said with a menacing grin. She smiled coolly and slowly, “Kevin and Eve broke up, huh?”
“Yeah, that kind of happens when the man leaves to be with another woman.”
“Poor Eve, she must be devastated,” Julie said in the most sarcastic tone possible, “What’s she doing to cope?”
Chris took a deep breath, “She’s working a lot more at the hospital and she,” He lowered his voice, “Moved back in with me.”
“What?!” Julie asked in shock, “I hate to explain this to you, Chris, but a married man doesn’t usually live with a woman who’s not his wife.”
“And a married man usually isn’t separated from his wife by fifty guards and twenty miles, Julie,” Chris exhaled, “Look, Eve’s my friend. She needed a place to stay after Lucy and Kevin ended up at the Lighthouse and I had an extra room. Is that really such a horrible crime?”
“It could be. Don’t be getting any ideas, buster,” Julie teased, trying to lighten her mood with little success.
“Like what? Like having a torrid affair with my best friend while my wife is locked up in an institution? Never crossed my mind,” He grinned.
“It had better not,” She said before reaching over to touch his cheek gently, “I need you too much, Chris.”
Through every turn I'll be near you
I'll come anytime you call
I'll catch you when you fall
I'll be guiding you
“I’m not going to let you down, Julie. I care about you too much. This isn’t about the money anymore,” He paused with a grin, “Well not just about the money.”
Julie laughed softly, “I’m going to pay you back for that one, Mr. Ramsey.”
“I’m sure you will, Mrs. Ramsey,” He said with a soft smile before lowering his lips to hers in a loving kiss.
You have to believe we are magic
Nothin' can stand in our way
You have to believe we are magic
Don't let your aim ever stray
And if all your hopes survive
Your destiny will arrive
I'll bring all your dreams alive
For you
