Gabriella sits beside Joe's hospital bed clutching his hand in hers. Her own hands shaking as tears run down her dirt stained face. A radio plays in the back ground but she doesn't notice. She is completely focused on Joe. She looks at Joe's motionless body and feels her whole body ache with sorrow. Just then a nurse comes in with some clothes. 
Nurse: Mrs. Scanlon? 
Gabriella looks up. 
Nurse: The nurses chipped in and got some clothes for you, along with some other things. I'm so sorry your home burned down. 
Gabriella tries to smile through her tears and takes the things gratefully. 
Gabriella: Thanks, but you know, these things, they, they just don't matter. 
The nurse nods her understanding and quickly leaves. Gabriella turns back to Joe and gently strokes his head. 
Gabriella: The only thing I ever need is you.

She begins sobbing harder.

She sighs sadly and squeezes his hand not sure what else to do or say. She lays her head down on the side of his bed. Suddenly she feels him squeeze her hand. Surprised Gabriella sits straight up and looks at him. Joe is starring at her lovingly. He moves his hand weakly to her face and gently strokes it. 
Joe: I need you to. I love you, Gabby. I always will. 
Gabriella is over come with joy and relief she gets up and hugs Joe tightly as she cries. They hold onto each other for dear life.
